When I first met Susannah she talked me into writing about my dad’s death. It was something I swore i would never write about, because it was something that was too painful at the time. Too much of myself would’ve gone into that post, and as a writer sometimes you need to decide what parts of your life to share, and what parts to keep for yourself. I ended up writing it though because it was the story about my dad that got her attention. Because I got her attention she wrote a post about me. And since she wrote a post about me I have my own Forbes blog. So what does TMI do for you? It gets attention. And when you get attention, you get noticed. And you only get hired if you get noticed.
That’s when I started looking at my blog post topics through a different lens. I knew if I was afraid of them, that they were gold.
This is a story about a guy named Scott Bolohan and his great hair. It’s also about why he will be successful in this crappy economy, no matter what he wants to do (which is pretty much everything).
Scott text me awhile ago, and told me someday he would show this post to his kids. These are the sort of things I love to write. Things that mean things to people.
